WAY BACK WHEN in 2007................almost 5 years ago , I made my first WISH LIST FOR WINS on this now defunct blog that was basically made for me to keep up with my wishes and wins. It was time consuming but interesting and fun in my spare time. Reading the list now........... I see that many of the "wishes" that I had were GRANTED or BOUGHT with some clever resources/sales etc in some way or another. I have decided to make a NEW WISH LIST but not make a separate contest type blog to accommodate it. I will post it here and "over there, just for the nostalgia of it" and then see how it all works out.

There are NO RULES on these "lists" all you have to do is DREAM and write it down.

Sooooooooooo here is the list with a couple of repeats from the first..........

thats the "starting place" for my wish list.............. I think I will add to it , as these are things that are "on the top of my head" or "tip of the tongue" I am sure there is much more I want.... LOL....... this is more of a "need" LOL

TAXES on wins ?

YEP THATS RIGHT YOU GUESSED IT, CANT WIN ANYTHING WITHOUT UNCLE SAM WANTING A PIECE OF THE ACTION! Last year we had to pay a DOUBLE state tax on a casino win with a NO CASH BACK from mississippi, they are calling their tax a 'service charge' now! YIKES..........

Most companies that offer prizes of value send you a 1099 or a MISC. INCOME / PRIZE WIN tax sheet to make it easy for you to know what to claim on your taxes. NOW the problem with this is that many items are valued at MORE than the current years price, at least for freelancers! :) soooooooooooo if you do win something check the ARV (what you will have to claim) and if you do find it cheaper before tax time notify the company with ALL of the information. Most of the time they will change it for you. If they don't, you can clip the add, do a screen shot etc of the EXACT ITEM (make sure of this) and the price and date (must be in a short time period of you rec'ving your prize) so that you can claim ACTUAL VALUE instead of ARV.

When you claim prize winnings you can ALSO CLAIM deductions up to the amount of your win. This includes and and all supplies that directly relates to your sweepstakes entry. FOR EXAMPLE: if you send in lots of mail in sweeps SAVE YOUR RECTS and claim it all 100% of your postage, envelopes, 3x5's etc.

It will cost ya a stamp (soon to be 41c for reg. envelope) to enter these but the payoff, well, it seems it is REALLY BIG! "Serious" sweeper like these contests because the odds are better (let me explain) than strictly an online contest.

I don't know about you, but for me it is so much easier to use robo-form and/or type to enter contests than to hand write my NAZT and hand address envelopes. This sentiment is usually the case, thereby eliminating most people from the competition and making it pretty much a competition among the serious sweepers. Of course this isn't ALWAYS true, and it does only take one entry to win, but I know personally and read about many who will literally hand address 100's of envelopes per night/week and mail them from "all over town" rather than from one mailbox. Now, these VERY SAME PEOPLE are winning $$, cars, plama tvs, trips and many huge prizes that we don't win as frequently by entering only the "online" sweeps.

On occasion, I will get a mail in sweepstakes that strikes my fancy and enter it, not just one time, but about 10 or 20 entries for the contest. That doesn't seem like a lot to those that enter these regularly, but for me it is alot! :) Recently I posted one of those sweepstakes in the newsletter for you to enter if you like.
LOWES CONTEST. I like this contest because there are over 3 MILLION PRIZES
so I feel that the odds are in "anyone's" favor! :) The other type of mail in entries that I like are SECOND CHANCE DRAWINGS and/or limited area drawings. I feel that they ALSO carry better odds than most mail in sweepstakes.

I have "sent for" codes or game pieces in the past and have been lucky a FEW times to actually win with one that was mailed to me rather than purchased on a product. This usually costs you extra with your SASE that must be enclosed, so make sure the product that you would have to buy, costs you much more than the 80c for postage both ways............ or you loose........money (that make sense or cents?) YEA FOR VERMONT SWEEPERS who only pay 1 way! NO STAMPED ENVIE NEEDED FOR RETURN!

I have a couple of great friends who enter the mail in sweeps with an "occasional" internet sweep - the exact opposite of me- but they win regularly and BIG, where I win occasionally and mostly "small" but it keeps me happy. This like anything else pays according to what you put in it, the more you play the more you get paid!

I really would love to win a CAR one day, it is one of the few things I haven't won. I see so many mail in sweepers winning these that it tempts me to invest some time, stamps and energy into these.

Thinking back over the years and trying to classify what the LEADERS are is hard!

my BEST win ever was $2000 on the RADIO! it was thrilling to hear the recording award me the big bucks and even better when I picked it up! LOL it was a R&B station in Richmond and I was the big winner, lucky caller that got the money! This was a long time ago when $2000 was more like $5000 now. My kids were in need of new beds and they wanted water beds. we didn't have the money and when I won the $2000 I went straight away to buy the beds complete with linens and new comforters! These beds lasted them many years and I was thrilled to provide them. I paid a few bills, got tires for the car and some other things which I cannot remember but I remember VIVIDLY going to get the money! the people at the radio station gave me balloons, tshirts and the big check and told me to tell ALL OF MY FRIENDS TO LISTEN! :)

My first win came when I was just about 9 or 10 years old! I watched a TV show called BOZO which was a kids show with a clown and a dog puppet. I wanted to "be on the show" but my parents never had time to bring me anywhere and didn't consider this something they would be interested in doing for me. I was a "latch key" kid, and this was my afternoon entertainment, while babysitting my younger brother. They had this contest that you sent in a post card to the show , they put the cards in a barrel and the puppet drew out 12 cards a day and put them on a leader board. They then rolled dice and the winning card was announced. I had been on a school field trip to the circus. My parents didn't give me any spending money but a classmate had $20 WHOLE DOLLARS (was a lot back then) and she bought me a program which had POST CARDS IN IT! WOW! I sent in one of the post cards with a stamp I begged for from an adult neighbor! I watched everyday and then one day I saw the CIRCUS POST CARD on the leader board! They picked my card and i won a prize pack that included a shirt, passes to some local businesses (skating , fast food etc) and I thought I was the luckiest person alive!

BIGGEST WIN my biggest win (worth the most money) is my HUGE 52 inch big screen HITACHI TELEVSION which was worth about $5000 at the time I won it! Now it is worth a lot less......... but it is still in WORKING ORDER and in my living room! I really would like to win a flat screen to replace this now, save some much needed room...........but for now I will just be happy to have won such a great prize! the FUNNY thing is that the same month I also won a 2 inch screen TV, the largest and the smallest available at the time! :) it was TV MONTH!
BTW........ I won this from a MUSIC SITE........ HERE they still have monthly contests but most of the time they are music related! I entered this one 1x on the last day of that particular contest.

SMALLEST WIN EVER I guess my smallest win is a 10% off coupon that I won lately from NBA site. I was all excited to see a CONGRATULATIONS in my inbox and hurried to see what it was I won, my shoulders sunk as I read the news............ but my smallest tangible win has to be a MAGNET , I have won my share of these over the years, and I have been told that I get more excited over winning a magnet than most! :) Most recently I was a NASCAR SCHEDULE MAGNET from an instant win that is now over, I haven't gotten it yet, but HEY a win is a win right?

MOST INTERESTING WIN: my most interesting win was last year. 2006. I was chosen to be one of the 88 friends pictured on a RACE CAR! Kyle Petty was celebrating and saluting their following by featuring fans on 2 race cars. I was 1/44 pictured on one car during FAN FEST which was a big race. I got an autographed poster and a copy of the decal that was used with my picture. I was interviewed by our local paper, the Powhatan Today, and so was my DH!

MOST SATISFYING WIN I remember this SO VERY WELL, like it was yesterday.......
I was 17 years old and married, living in New Orleans and sitting on the bed playing a board game with my husband at the time. Now you have to know that this man that I was married to at such a young age, happens to be one of the most CYNICAL people in the WORLD! He was a "nay sayer" and thought everybody was out to get over on you and contests were "rigged." I was telling him about my contest wins in the past and he said something along the lines of "they picked you to win because you were a cute little girl" not because you won "square and fair." I vehemently disagreed with him and tried to convince him that all you have to do to win is ENTER and you have just as much chance as anyone else. Well, we had the radio on and this radio station "WRNO" was giving away a Beatles Collectors Set randomly to caller #? during the day, it was being advertised. I listened carefully and when the Beatles song started playing I picked up the phone and started dialing. I won that contest right there as he shook his head in disbelief, thinking I was playing a joke to prove a point. He almost fell off the bed when my voice started playing on the radio speaker. It was a Saturday when I won. He said "lets go pick it up now" I told him that you had to go during the week and his reply was promptly "oh yea, they do it like that so that working people can't go in to pick it up, hoping you never collect your prize." On Monday I called the station and they said I could pick it up until 6:00 any weekday. That same day I was there by 5:30 and couldn't wait to bring it home. Everyone wanted this album set that saw it, It was one of my proudest wins and most satisfying wins ever. :)

BEST SHARED WIN:
Cheryl Free (don't you love her name?) my online buddy in INDIANA won a trip to DISNEY LAND in California with a "meet & greet" with movie stars including Jim Belushi, Drew Carey, John Ritter and others. She chose me to go with her on the trip, meeting at the airport in Detroit and off for a 3 day trip filled with fun and adventure! This was absolutely the best shared win ever, we had a Great time, took lots of good pics and we each got a huge hug from Jim Belushi too!

NASCAR RACE FIASCO

I got a letter in january 2007 that I was a winner in the COKE NASCAR CONTEST and that I won tickets to the NEXTEL CUP RACE IN CHARLOTTE
with letter in hand i ran outside to inform the DH that we were BIG WEINERS
(that is our inside joke around here........ I always say "I AM A WEINER" when I get a WIN NOTICE)

I showed him the letter, compared it to the contest rules and we started making plans for the BIG RACE! He is a bit of a race fan, I really am not, but I do like weekend trips and the hoopla and festive atmosphere.

ANYWAY .......... some time passed and I got this email that said SORRY BUT YOU WON "POLE NIGHT TICKETS" well, that is a long drive to go to QUALIFICATION and OMG that isn't even a RACE! what a disappointment! the sweeps boards that i frequent were all SWARMING with people complaining, emailing, calling COKE and letting them know in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that they were MAD MAD MAD about the letter that mislead them. I decided I would NOT join the people that were overloading the phone lines etc but I would email them back and say "I am disappointed but thanks anyway"

AS OF THIS DATE i have not rec'vd a confirmation that they have rec'vd my email , but several people have emailed me that won BRISTOL race tickets saying that they are getting ACTUAL RACE TICKETS in addition to POLE NIGHT tickets too but for NEXT YEAR 2008
they also have the choice to attend the CHARLOTTE RACE THIS YEAR.......... so if they make good across the board, it looks like I will have a shot at going to the race after all!

KFC ruled JANUARY with their "lots o prizes" instant win! I won TONS of "snackers" from KFC which all expire at the end of this month. I never won the PSP that I was trying so desparately to win but MANY freelancers did and for that I am thrilled! (freelancers are members of my main site www.freelancebyu.com)

1/3 I was lucky enuff to be the referrer of the freelancer, who won $50 AMAZON GC this day! this freelancer signed up from my referral and won, which means i won too! I was doing the happy dance when I got this email!

1/16 I also won 1 of the 5000 $100 checks from the KRAFT instant win this month. I was THRILLED to see the "YOU SCORED" screen the very first time I played this one! this is an expired contest now.

1/17: I won a FREE ARMOUR ALL PRODUCT COUPON which I have already rec'vd but have yet to redeem. this contest was limited to 1 per household, so that was it for this contest! It has already expired or I would post the link for you.

1/18: I DARED to enter another "voting" type contest, but this time it was a vote for EACH CLICK which was very helpful to me , as it was VERY DIFFICULT for someone to sabatoge the vote! :) I have been very frustrated by those that have too much time on their hands that look for ways to change the outcome of this type of contest. this one was ALSO almost over (1 day left) so there was little time for other people to sign up and then find a way to get a zillion votes....... in addition it was 1 click per personal computer which helped as well! YEA I won a $100 LEVI GIFT CERTIFICATE , which I have rec'vd and spent! I was in great need of new jeans, since my failed pregnancy left me with extra weight........... :)

I am creating this page to post my wins, favorite sweepstakes and information about the contests I enter. ANYTHING related to contests goes here, you will find a hodge podge of ramblings, links and my 2 cents on things here as I have the time to post! My motto "gotta be in it to win it" is the name of this blog as it is SO VERY TRUE!

I used to track my winnings via the FORUM which has been disabled now for 3 weeks due to server issues of the host. I have no way to retrieve this information and I am frustrated with that, so I will do my best to re-create my 2007 wins and others (if I can) from my saved emails. In no way will this be complete and that saddens me :(
